A shop window can be a magnificent advertisement for any retail outlet. Well-displayed products can attract customers and encourage them to take a closer look, often tempting them inside.
However, customers aren’t the only creatures drawn to the window. So are flying insects.
Not only are insects around the base of a window off-putting for customers, many carry harmful bacteria which could be even worse for business.
Rentokil Pest Control has recently introduced a simple, unobtrusive and effective method of eradicating this problem. The Luminos Spyder.

Nigel Binns, Business Development Director, Rentokil Pest Control explains: "Luminos Spyder exploits the biology of flying insects to remove them discreetly. Flies, for example, are naturally attracted to windows due to the high level of incoming light.
"Typically some insects will walk around and rest at or near the bottom of the window. Other insects continually fly at the glass trying to escape. When they become exhausted, they drop to the sill.
Binns continues: "With high voltage, “zapping” flying insect units there is a great risk of the insect exploding, spraying bacteria-laden fragments over the merchandise, such as food displays. Also, these types of units are not really practical for situating in this awkward area at the base of a window."
"Uniquely designed, the Spyder is installed along the sill and has a V-shapped channel which runs the entire length of the window. The channel is cut to meet the exact requirement of the customer.
"Like other models in Rentokil’s Luminos range, Spyder employs a highly effective sticky film to trap insects and winds on periodically to encapsulate all of the insects captured, so there is no further risk of contamination.
"Battery operated, Spyder provides protection for our customers 24- hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week."
